The Cheeseme - A grater mission
Thursday, July 11, 2024Emily is here from Mexico, so staying busy in the afternoons is a must. Yesterday's plan was window shopping at World Market and a walk on a Kennesaw Mtn trail. In between those I needed a snack, and because we had just spent more than half an hour admiring WM's selection of foreign meats and their accompaniments, I naturally craved CHEESE. A Whole Foods is just down the street and the mission to get a small wedge to snack was on (Emily could get whatever snack she wanted). I don't come to WFs so I was pretty excited to see their diverse cheese selection along with a "bites" section where you can get sample sized wedges for under a couple dollars. My local Kroger has a Murray's cheese shop that does the same, so I'd like to see how they compare (unlike Publix's cheese selection which I find underwhelming).
I decided on some Salami, Emily opted in for rye crackers, and voila - it was a party. We drove to Kennesaw mtn to eat on a picnic table but they were closing :-( We needed to make sure we had enough sunlight for a walk, so we had no choice but to pull over to a Starbucks parking lot to snack.
Behold - our glamorous set up.

Emily and Paco's favorite was the Gouda and it's hard for me to decide, but I think I am going to vote Mahon. Somerdale takes prize for funnest cheese and I just keep thinking of what my palette would enjoy pairing it with. . . the steak idea sounds good, any others?
For future Cheese Series, my goal is to share more thorough reviews. I did record Emily, Paco, and I's thoughts, but because it was done in a rush and I am tired - that is all for today!
CHEERS!
